The Complete Ha Giang Cultural Journey
Four days gives you the time to experience Ha Giang beyond its famous roads and viewpoints.
Journey through Quan Ba, Dong Van, Ma Pi Leng and remote mountain villages, while spending time with H’Mong, Dao and other local communities along the way. Learn traditional crafts, prepare local food, explore village life, travel the Happiness Road, and experience some of Ha Giang’s most remarkable landscapes.
With a slower pace and more time in each place, this is our most immersive journey, created for travelers who want to understand not only what Ha Giang looks like, but how people live here.

Day 1
Ha Giang • Ban Thang • Quan Ba
Morning
8:00 AM: Meet your guide and begin the journey into the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
Stop at Bac Sum Pass, the gateway to the Ha Giang Loop, known for its winding mountain roads and panoramic views.
Continue along Quyet Tien Road to Ban Thang, a traditional Bo Y ethnic village.
Enjoy a guided walk through the village, experience local life, and relax by the natural stream.
Join a hands-on traditional sticky rice cake (Bánh Dày) workshop with a local family.
Lunch
Enjoy a home-cooked lunch at a local family's house in Ban Thang.
Afternoon
Travel to Poje Village, Quan Ba.
Experience a traditional indigo dyeing workshop, where you'll learn about one of the region's oldest textile traditions.
Evening
Check in to your homestay in Nam Dam Village.
Dinner at the homestay.
Watch the Dao Cap Sac Ceremony, an important coming-of-age ritual in Dao culture.
Overnight in Nam Dam.
Day 2
Quan Ba • Sa Phin • Lung Cu • Dong Van
Morning
Breakfast in Trang Kim.
Visit a local workshop to see how traditional Vietnamese rice noodles (Pho) are made.
Continue through the Dong Van Karst Plateau, stopping at:
Tham Ma Pass
Moon Rock Valley
Vuong Family Palace (H'Mong King's Palace)
Lo Lo Chai Village or Then Pa Village (depending on timing)
Lunch
Lunch at a local restaurant in Sa Phin.
Afternoon
Continue exploring the plateau, including any remaining destinations depending on the schedule.
Evening
Arrive in Dong Van and check in hotel
Dinner at a local restaurant in Dong Van Old Quarter.
Free time to explore the historic old town at your own pace.
Overnight in Dong Van.
Day 3
Dong Van • Ma Pi Leng • Pa Vi • Quan Ba
Morning
Breakfast at the hotel.
Travel along the famous Happiness Road.
Stop at the breathtaking Ma Pi Leng Pass.
Enjoy a scenic boat trip on the Nho Que River.
Lunch
Lunch at a restaurant in Pa Vi.
Afternoon
Visit the iconic M-shaped Curve on the return journey.
Visit Lung Tam Linen Weaving Village, where H'Mong women preserve centuries-old weaving techniques. Discover the process of making handmade linen, from spinning fibers to creating intricate beeswax patterns and natural dyeing.
Return to Nam Dam Village and check in to your homestay.
Experience a traditional Dao herbal bath, followed by a leisurely walk around Nam Dam Lake.
Evening
Enjoy a special dinner thoughtfully designed for your group, combining traditional local dishes with selections tailored to your preferences.
Overnight in Nam Dam.
Day 4
Quan Ba • Truc Son • Ha Giang
Morning
Breakfast at the homestay.
Continue to Quan Ba Twin Mountains (Fairy Bosom Mountains) for panoramic views.
Visit Truc Son Village, a remote Dao community nestled on the mountainside.
Walk through the village with your guide to learn about traditional wooden houses, ancient Shan tea trees, and everyday rural life. Depending on the season, you may join local families in simple farming activities such as cutting grass for livestock or preparing animal feed.
As part of the journey, you'll also take part in our community support program by delivering school supplies or daily necessities to local families. These gifts are funded through Ha Giang Origin's community fund, supported by every tour booking.

Before you book
Do I need to know how to ride a motorbike?
No. This journey is covered by car with a local driver, so you never have to ride. If you would prefer to ride part of the route, contact our team and we will arrange it.
How do I get from Hanoi to Ha Giang?
Night sleeper buses run daily from Hanoi and arrive in Ha Giang City early in the morning, before the 8:00 AM start. Tell us your arrival plan and we will confirm the pick-up point.
What should I pack?
Layers. Mornings on the plateau are cool even in summer. Long trousers, closed shoes, a light waterproof, sunscreen and a small day bag. Large luggage can stay at our office.
Is this suitable for children or older travellers?
Yes. The whole route is covered by car, so the pace suits families and travellers who prefer not to ride. Tell us the ages in your group and we will adjust the day plan.
Can you cater for vegetarian or allergy needs?
Yes. Tell us when you book and we pass it to every homestay and restaurant before you arrive. The more notice you give us, the better we can prepare.
